Come Chat with Me

Last Monday we aired the season finale of Monologue Monday (if you missed it, check it out below).

Today, in lieu of a monologue, I’ll be hosting a live Facebook chat to discuss the future of Monologue Monday and answer YOUR questions about the series. Come join me! I’d love to hear your thoughts on the series, what you’d like to see next, and any questions you were wondering about the series.

‘Tis the Season

Happy Holidays!!! In the spirit of the holiday season, Monologue Monday presents it’s Christmas episode, featuring a monologue from the classic holiday film, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. This is our 21st episode; let the countdown begin! Only 5 more episodes left until the end of Season 1 of Monologue Monday. Time really does fly when you’re having fun and pursuing your passion.

Monologue Monday

Hey y’all!! Once again, it’s been a while since I’ve posted. But to catch you up, in the past few months, I’ve quit my 9-5 (aw shucks!!!) and am acting full time. Last month,  I launched my new web series, Monologue Monday (www.monologuemonday.com). Monologue Monday is a weekly web series featuring tips about the entertainment industry, and a monologue performance (by yours truly). New episodes are released EVERY MONDAY!!! Episode 7 was released today. Check it out below, and subscribe to the series, to stay updated when new episodes are posted.

Aw Shucks! Today is my last day on the (modified) Green Smoothie Cleanse. I have spent the last 10 days drinking 2 green smoothies a day (one for breakfast, one for lunch) and a salad for dinner. Snacking in between meals has consisted of fruits and veggies (celery, apples, carrots, cucumbers) and for my protein fix, hard boiled eggs and natural unsweetened peanut butter (on my celery). I have been drinking nothing but water all day, with the exception of a cup of detox tea in the mornings.

For 10 days, I have not had sweets, bread, pasta, rice, meat (I take that back—the last 2 days I added lean chicken to my dinner salads), dairy, fries, pizza…basically all the things I usually eat on a regular basis. Needless to say, this was DIFFICULT! Especially for me, the person who has something sweet to eat EVERYDAY! The person who thinks pizza should be added as a level on the food pyramid.

Although I can’t wait to sink my teeth into some pizza, this cleanse has made me become aware of the health choices that I make on a daily basis. It has made me aware of my daily temptations and cravings. It has made me focus on distinguishing between wants vs. needs. It has defined discipline for me. It has made me proud of myself. It has made me believe in myself.

I couldn’t have done it without the support of my honeybun (lol) and my sister, as well as prayer and positive self-talk.

Moving forward, I’m still gonna eat my pizza, but maybe not as much as I normally do. I know there are better choices out there, I just always made excuses as to why I wasn’t choosing those better choices. Instead of believing that I HAVE to have something sweet, I know that that’s a choice, and I don’t HAVE to have it; I can choose something else, and still feel just as fulfilled.

Cheers to a healthier life!

Hey Rejection…Take THAT!!!

A while ago, I posted some tips on how to deal with rejection. That post was spawned out of my recent rejection from an audition. READ THE FULL POST HERE.

One of the final tips I gave for rejection was to keep trying. My dad, a retired musician (and I say “retired” lightly b/c he’s hardly retired–the man never stops!! LOL), has auditioned for quite a few things. Some he’s booked on the first try and the ones that he didn’t book, he keeps trying for. He keeps going and going.

Well, I kept trying and boo yow!

Don’t be discouraged by a “no”. Just keep trying. Never give up. Get that “yes”.

Aw Shucks! I’m a Producer, y’all!

I went back to school (sort of, and just very briefly) and became a certified Producer at Nashville’s NECAT studios. NECAT is a public access television station that airs “commercial free programming to residents of Davidson County”.

So, what this means is that I now have a designated place and platform to shoot and distribute/air my Writer’s Spotlight series on a more regular basis. Being a Producer allows me access to the studio and all of its equipment (cameras, audio, lighting, microphones, etc.). Prior to becoming a Producer at NECAT, a family friend was gracious enough to allow me to shoot WSW at her lovely home (and I hope she knows how extremely absolutely grateful I am to her for allowing me to do so).

Since the station is just local, I’ll still be posting WSW here and on my YouTube channel so that no one misses out on the content. I am very excited about this new development and I can’t wait to see where it leads!
